Days 1-3

We said good bye to Aaron at Amicalola Falls AT Approach Trail and Double A took his first step of the approx. 5 million steps he’ll take toward Mount Katahdin.

Double-A’s first day was a climb up the Amicalola Falls (check them out they’re cool) it’s a climb of 604 steps with 35 lbs. on your back. He then kept on climbing to the top of Springer Mountain and officially started the Appalachian Trail.

He stayed at Hawk Mountain shelter on night 2, and to finish day 3 he stopped at Woody Gap, and will stay in a Hostel in Suches, GA tonight.

He has completed 20.6 miles of the AT, and along with the 8.8 mile approach trail has completed 29.4 miles in 3 days.

Check out Double-A’s photos or instagram page for more photos.
Below is Double-A’s progress so far.

  1. Love these updates! What an adventure. I can’t wait to research more about the trail and the places he’s seeing.
